Chalvey tip moves to 9am to 5pm on 1 October and shuts at 1pm on Christmas Eve. Langley is shut until spring 2027; Burnham opens daily to 6pm, free for Slough.
Slough’s own tip, Chalvey, is open 9am to 6pm until 30 September, then 9am to 5pm every day from Thursday 1 October to the end of March. Langley is shut for maintenance until spring 2027, so the other option is Burnham, which is open 9am to 6pm seven days a week and free for Slough residents. Neither Chalvey nor Burnham needs a booking.

Chalvey Household Waste Recycling Centre
White Hart Road, off Spackmans Way, SL1 2SF. Run by Slough Borough Council and open to residents of Slough and of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Last entry is 15 minutes before closing every day (Slough Borough Council, Chalvey opening hours). The site also shuts for short spells while containers are emptied, so you may have to wait.
Before you go
These rules are from the council’s access requirements page:
- No permit and no booking. Number plate cameras and CCTV watch the site, and the council says unusually regular users will be investigated.
- Bring proof of address and photo ID, such as a utility bill and a driving licence.
- Height barrier of 1.7 metres (5ft 9in). Vans and pickups are not allowed into the public site at all. Slough residents in a taller vehicle are sent to the Waste Transfer Station, the weighbridge, where staff assess the load and can turn it away.
- Trailers can be no more than 1.5 metres long and 0.91 metres wide.
- You cannot park outside and carry waste in on foot, and staff cannot help you unload.
DIY waste costs money after four visits
Household DIY waste is free up to four times in any four-week period. After that, and for some items at any time, Chalvey charges. Examples from the council’s price list (non-household items and disposal costs):

Chalvey does not take mud or soil. Without proof that you live in Slough or Windsor and Maidenhead, you pay for all DIY waste.
Burnham Household Recycling Centre
Crowpiece Lane, SL2 3TG. Run by Buckinghamshire Council. While Langley is shut, Burnham is open 9am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday, and on all bank holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. You do not need to book. Bring proof of address (Buckinghamshire Council, Burnham recycling centre).
Buckinghamshire charges people from outside the county to use its tips, from £28.80 up to £472.70 a visit, but its fees page carries an exemption: “If you live in Slough, you do not need to pay the non-Buckinghamshire resident access fee” (Buckinghamshire Council, fees for non-residents).
Burnham has six unloading spaces. The council says it is busiest on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and quietest on Tuesday mornings, and that at busy times last entry can be before 6pm.
Langley: closed until spring 2027
Langley recycling centre on Langley Park Road closed at 6pm on 8 September 2026 for essential maintenance. Slough Borough Council says it reopens in spring 2027 (find a local recycling centre); Buckinghamshire Council, which runs it, now says Easter 2027 (Langley recycling centre).
