Tez Ilyas at the Curve on 9 October, three £10 children's shows and a free Black Park Halloween trail in half term, plus four Slough Town home games.

Slough’s autumn runs mostly through two places: the Curve on William Street, which has comedy, world music and dance in October and three children’s shows in half term, and Arbour Park, where Slough Town play four home league games between now and 7 November. The biggest single date is Tez Ilyas on Friday 9 October. For families, half term brings a free Halloween trail at Black Park from 24 October to 1 November.

  • Slough Town v Ebbsfleet United, Tuesday 29 September, 7.45pm, Arbour Park, Stoke Road, SL2 5AY. The National League South match rearranged from the opening weekend. Standing tickets are £15 for adults online or £18 on the gate, £10 online for over-65s and £1 online for under-14s. Anyone aged 14 to 21 needs an Identisurge account to get in (Slough Town FC fixtures; ticket prices).

  • Tez Ilyas: Tez Things I Hate About You, Friday 9 October, 7.30pm, the Curve, William Street, SL1 1XY. New stand-up from the star of Man Like Mobeen. Tickets £25, 18 and over, 90 minutes plus an interval (The Curve).
  • Suntou Susso and The Gambian Superstars, Saturday 10 October, 7pm, the Curve. The kora player and griot with a line-up of Gambian musicians performing together in the UK for the first time. Tickets £15 (The Curve).

Every Curve booking carries a £1.90 transaction fee on top of the ticket price.

  • Slough Town v Horsham, Saturday 17 October, 3pm, Arbour Park. Same prices as above (Slough Town FC).
  • Kathakali, Friday 23 October, 7.30pm, the Curve. The Kala Chethena Kathakali Company performs the classical dance drama from Kerala, with a demonstration of the make-up, costume and gestures before the show. Tickets £10, concessions £8 (The Curve).
  • Slough Town v Dorking Wanderers, Saturday 24 October, 3pm, Arbour Park (Slough Town FC).
  • The Black Park Halloween Trail, Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, Black Park Country Park, Black Park Road, Wexham, SL3 6DS. A self-led trail of about 30 minutes to find the creepy characters hidden in the woods, 10am to 3pm at weekends and 9am to 3pm on weekdays. It is free, but you must book to get the arrival instructions, and dogs on leads are welcome (Buckinghamshire Country Parks). Parking at Black Park is charged separately.
  • The Amazing Bubbleman, Wednesday 28 October, 2pm, the Curve. Louis Pearl’s bubble show for all ages. Tickets £10, under-16s £8, or £32 for four (The Curve).
  • The Shivers, by emma + pj, Thursday 29 October, 11.30am, the Curve. A 55-minute action comedy for ages 6 to 11 about misinformation and keeping safe online, with loud music. Tickets £10, under-16s £8, £32 for four (The Curve).
  • The Elves and The Shoemaker, Friday 30 October, 11.30am, the Curve. Theatre of Widdershins’ puppet version of the tale, for ages 3 and up, 55 minutes. Tickets £10, under-16s £8, £32 for four (The Curve).
  • 16th London All Soul’s Jazz Festival, Saturday 31 October, 7.30pm, the Curve. The Association of Polish Jazz Musicians in London brings its annual remembrance festival to Slough for the third time, with a Tribute to Polski Jazz programme. Tickets £15 (The Curve).

November

  • Slough Town v Walton & Hersham, Saturday 7 November, 3pm, Arbour Park (Slough Town FC).
  • Windsor Racecourse Fireworks Night, Saturday 7 November, Royal Windsor Racecourse, Maidenhead Road, Windsor, SL4 5JJ. Gates open at 4.30pm, the display is at 7.30pm and gates close at 9.30pm, with a funfair. Second release tickets are £14 for adults, £8.50 for children aged 4 to 12 and £40 for a family of four (Royal Windsor Racecourse).

  • Upton Court parkrun, every Saturday at 9am, Upton Court Park, starting near the main gates by the car park on Upton Court Road, SL3 7LX. A free, timed 5k; register once before your first run (parkrun).
  • LEGO at the Curve, every Tuesday, 4pm to 5pm, Library at The Curve. Free, for children aged 4 and over (Slough Borough Council).
  • Story and rhyme session, Wednesdays in term time, 10.30am to 11am, Library at The Curve. Free. The council’s listing runs to 21 October (Slough Borough Council).
  • Healthier Slough drop-in, every Friday, 10am to 4pm, Library at The Curve. Free health checks, blood pressure and referrals to stop smoking, weight and alcohol support, no appointment needed (Slough Borough Council).

Getting there

The Curve is a short walk from Slough station and the High Street. Arbour Park is on Stoke Road north of the station, with a club car park that fills on a first come basis.
